AmCham Oman – Terms and Conditions
1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") apply to everyone who uses the AmCham Oman website, applies for or holds membership, registers for events, or uses any AmCham Oman service.
"AmCham Oman", "we", "us" and "our" mean Oman American Business Center LLC, trading as AmCham Oman, Office No. 3, Beach Oasis Building, Hayy As Saruj, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. "You" means the individual or organisation using our website or services.
By using our website, submitting a membership application, paying a membership fee or registering for an event, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
Some services, such as Trade & Investment engagements and sponsorships, are also governed by a separate written agreement. Where that agreement conflicts with these Terms, the separate agreement applies.
2. Use of the Website
You may use amcham.om and the member portal for lawful purposes connected with AmCham Oman's activities. You must not:
copy, scrape or re-publish the Membership Directory or member contact details, or use them for unsolicited bulk marketing;
attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, member accounts or our systems;
upload or send material that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory or harmful, including viruses or malicious code.
Member login details are personal to the account holder. You are responsible for keeping them secure and for activity carried out under your login.
We aim to keep website content accurate and current, but it is provided for general information only. We do not guarantee that the website will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, suspend or remove content at any time.
Our website links to third-party sites, including our membership and events platform. We are not responsible for the content, availability or terms of those sites.
3. Membership
3.1 Categories and fees. Membership categories, benefits and fees are set out on our Member Benefits page and may be updated from time to time. Benefits apply to the membership category paid for.
3.2 Applications. All applications are subject to approval by AmCham Oman. We may decline an application at our discretion. Membership is held by the organisation, not by an individual, and cannot be transferred to another organisation.
3.3 Term. Membership runs for 12 months from the date we receive payment. Membership benefits start once payment is received.
3.4 Renewal. Membership must be renewed before the end of each 12-month term. We will send a renewal reminder, but renewal remains the member's responsibility.
3.5 Grace period. If a membership is not renewed by its expiry date, a 30-day grace period applies, during which member benefits continue. If payment is not received by the end of the grace period, the membership lapses. The organisation is then removed from member communications, member WhatsApp groups and the Membership Directory, and member rates no longer apply.
3.6 No refunds. Annual membership fees and the one-time enrollment fee are non-refundable. Cancellation or resignation does not entitle a member to a refund.
3.7 Representatives and linked accounts. Each category allows a set number of representatives, as shown on the Member Benefits page. Event registration at member rates works only through the email addresses linked to the membership account.
3.8 Cancellation by the member. A member may cancel at any time by writing to info@amcham.om. Benefits end on the date of cancellation. Cancellation does not entitle the member to a refund.
3.9 Suspension or termination by AmCham Oman. We may suspend or end a membership, without refund, if a member fails to pay fees due, breaches these Terms, misuses member data, or acts in a way that harms the reputation of AmCham Oman or its members.
3.10 Exclusive opportunities. Participation in VIP, U.S. Government, delegation and senior stakeholder opportunities depends on relevance, capacity and confirmation by AmCham Oman, even where the membership category includes access. These opportunities are offered at the discretion of AmCham Oman management.
4. Events
4.1 Registration. Event registration is completed through our events platform. A place is confirmed only once registration, and payment where applicable, is complete.
4.2 Eligibility. Some events are open only to certain membership categories, such as Premium Member events. Registering for an event does not guarantee entry if the registrant is not eligible. In that case we will let you know and, where a payment was made, refund it. Attendees whose membership has expired, or whose membership category does not include the event, may be asked to leave the event or to pay the applicable guest fee.
4.3 Transfers. If a registered attendee cannot attend, their ticket may be transferred to another person from the same member organisation. Please inform us of the change before the event.
4.4 Cancellations and no-shows. Event registrations are not refundable if cancelled by the attendee; transfer under 4.3 is the only option. No refund will be given if a registered attendee does not attend the event.
4.5 Changes or cancellation by AmCham Oman. We may change an event's date, venue, speakers or programme. If AmCham Oman cancels an event, registrants will receive a full refund of the ticket price paid. Travel and other personal costs are covered in section 8.3.
4.6 Conduct. Attendees must follow venue rules and behave professionally. We may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone whose conduct is disruptive or inappropriate, without refund.
5. Trade & Investment Services
Our Trade & Investment Department offers services including market entry support, company setup, FTA origin and compliance reviews, trade intelligence and advisory, consultations and trade missions.
Each paid Trade & Investment service is provided under a separate engagement letter. That letter sets out the scope of work, fees, timelines, payment terms and cancellation terms for the engagement, and it takes priority over these Terms for that service.
Information on our website, in our newsletters (including The Catalyst Investment Update), FTA resources and presentations is general information only. It is not legal, tax, financial or investment advice. Please obtain professional advice for your specific situation.
AmCham Oman does not guarantee any business outcome, investment, partnership, licence or government approval. Introductions to investors, partners or authorities are made in good faith, and any resulting arrangement is solely between the parties involved.
6. Sponsorships, Partnerships and Member Offers
6.1 Sponsorships. Sponsorship packages are confirmed through a separate sponsorship agreement or confirmation, which sets out the benefits, fees, payment and cancellation terms.
6.2 Committees and programmes. Participation in committees and programmes, such as the AmCham HR Community, is subject to any specific terms communicated for that committee or programme.
6.3 Member-to-Member offers. Offers, discounts and vouchers listed under Member-to-Member Offers or Member Benefits are provided by the offering member or partner, not by AmCham Oman. They are subject to that provider's own terms and availability, and may be changed or withdrawn by the provider. Any dispute about an offer is between the member and the provider.
6.4 Third-party providers. Where benefits are delivered by third parties (for example, report licences, postal discounts or club access), the third party's terms apply, and AmCham Oman is not responsible for their performance.
7. Intellectual Property, Photography and Media
7.1 Our content. The AmCham Oman name, logo, website content, publications, guides and presentations belong to AmCham Oman or its licensors. You may view and share them for non-commercial purposes with credit to AmCham Oman, but you may not alter, sell or republish them without our written permission.
7.2 Use of our name and logo. Members may state that they are a member of AmCham Oman. Any other use of our name or logo, including in advertising, requires our prior written approval. Membership does not imply endorsement by AmCham Oman, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce or the U.S. Government.
7.3 Member content. By providing your logo, company profile, news or promotional material, you allow AmCham Oman to use it in the Membership Directory, on our website, in newsletters, on social media and at events in line with your membership benefits. You confirm that you have the right to share that material.
7.4 Photography and video. Photographs and videos are taken at our events and may be used on our website, social media, newsletters and promotional materials. If you do not wish to appear, please inform our team at the event or email info@amcham.om.
8. Liability, Privacy and General Terms
8.1 Limitation of liability. To the extent permitted by Omani law, AmCham Oman is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, business or opportunity, arising from use of our website or services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the membership, event or service concerned.
8.2 Force majeure. AmCham Oman is not liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations caused by events beyond its reasonable control. These include acts of God, natural disasters, severe weather, epidemics or public health measures, government directives or restrictions, war, civil unrest, power or network failures, and venue closures. In such cases we may postpone, relocate, move online or cancel the affected event or service. Where an event is cancelled by AmCham Oman, section 4.5 applies.
8.3 Travel and own costs. Members, attendees and clients are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and other expenses relating to events, trade missions, delegations and Trade & Investment services, unless AmCham Oman has agreed otherwise in writing. AmCham Oman is not liable for any costs, losses or consequences arising from travel or other arrangements a person makes on their own initiative without first informing AmCham Oman and receiving its written confirmation.
8.4 Privacy. We handle personal data in line with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. We do not share member data unless the member opts in to make their profile public on our Membership Directory.
8.5 Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page with its effective date. Continued use of our website or services after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
8.6 Governing law and disputes. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman. We will first try to resolve any dispute amicably. If it cannot be resolved, the courts of Muscat, Sultanate of Oman will have jurisdiction.
